Treatment programme for children RKS Debeli rtič Health Resort every year since 2017 organises a two-week rehabilitation programme for overweight children aged 7–19 years. The programme is carried out as a team (doctor, nutrition counsellor, psychologist, physiotherapist and/or occupational therapist and kinesiologist). The programme has been developed by:

- Dr. Katarina Kompan Erzer, assistant professor of couple and family therapy, lecturer, therapist, supervisor, licensed by the SZS,
- Dr. Iztok Retar, professor of sport education,
- Breda Prunk Franetič, PhD, specialist in school medicine.
The programme is aimed at children and adolescents who have problems with excess body weight and want to change their lifestyle, with an emphasis on exercise and a healthy balanced diet. Children are actively involved in the preparation of healthy meals, outdoor activities, lots of sport and exercise, building self-esteem and learning for life. The health benefits of the programme include the prevention of obesity-related diseases, the strengthening of mental capacity and the reduction of mental depression, the increase in the capacity for self-care, normal work and family activities and, last but not least, a significantly higher quality of life. Initial changes in the children included in the programme include weight loss and improved ability to be physically active, increased knowledge about healthy eating, increased confidence and better self-esteem, increased social integration, better family relationships and increased discipline as a result of parents being involved in the programme and setting limits for their children.
